Southwick Sewing Weekender - October 2022

Saturday 1st October – Sunday 2nd October 2022
10.30am – 4.30pm
Sussex MS Centre, Southwick Recreation Ground, Croft Avenue, Southwick

£75.00

Availability: Places available

A whole weekend of sewing with support, advice and tips from Julia Hincks.

Book your place for 2 full days of uninterrupted sewing.

You can work on whatever project you wish (so long as you bring it with you) and you’ll have a 6ft table to work on.

Additional space will be available for cutting out or drafting patterns.

The space is yours from 10.30am – 4.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday we’ll aim to finish and lock up by 4.45pm and if you’re feeling sociable (or should I saw ‘sewciable’) we’ll go for a post sewing drink at a local pub – venue dependent on weather.

On Sunday we’ll start again at 10.30am and aim to finish the day at 4.30pm.

Please Note: This isn’t for complete beginners – you need to know how to use your sewing machine and have a basic idea of how to approach your chosen project.

We’ll be having a fabric and pattern swap so please bring with you any unwanted patterns and / or fabrics to exchange.

You will learn how to:

  • Space to cut out and sew up your projects.
  • Overlockers and Coverstitch machines to use
  • Thread to buy or use if you’ve forgotten yours or need different colours on the overlocker.
  • Iron and ironing board to use
  • A day of sewcial sewing and lovely company

Also included in the course:

  • Tuition from Julia Hincks, experienced teacher and best selling author of ‘The Overlocker Technique Manual’ and ‘The Coverstitch Technique Manual’
  • Tea, coffee and biscuits
  • Fabric and patterns to swap

What you need to bring:

  • Your sewing machine and foot pedal / cable.
  • Sewing kit – pins, needles, threads, etc.
  • A sewing project – sewing pattern, fabric, haberdashery etc.
  • Lunch and snacks.
