Book Launch Party

On Friday 17th July I had the pleasure of hosting a party to celebrate the launch of my new book ‘The Beginner’s Guide to Dressmaking.’ It’s taken over 2 years to plan, write and publish the book and I wanted to mark the occasion with a little celebration.

The party took place at the fabulous Made and Making studio in Hassocks and was attended by around 50 people. It was so wonderful to see friends, family and lots of my students, some who have been coming to my classes since I started teaching adults back in 2008!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along to celebrate with me. Huge thanks to all my sewing friends and students who helped with the pattern testing process, it was wonderful to see so many of you wearing items that you’d made from the book. Massive thanks to Louise, Sarah and Jax for their help with making sure that everyone had plenty of food, Loula and Caroline for making the canapés, Nicky, Frances and Susanna for the wonderful cakes, Stella for the fabulous photos, and Michael for keeping the drinks flowing and looking after the book sales.

I had a really wonderful afternoon and couldn’t have been made to feel more loved.

Sewing people really are the best!

I’ve added all the photos from the event below so have a little scroll through and see if you can spot yourself or anyone that you know.

I’m wearing a dress using the vest pattern from the book, combined with a gathered skirt with pockets and tulip sleeves. I’ll write another blog post soon with more detail on how to create this dress and make these alterations to the pattern.
